A Peek At Blå Station’s Timeless Pieces From Salone del Mobile

Experts in contemporary, innovative and inspiring furniture design, Blå Station has released updated and new products at the world’s biggest furniture fair. The Swedish-based design studio is known for its focus on developing products that are fuelled by curiosity and challenge the unexpected.

Blå Station’s philosophy of creating functional pieces through a perfect balance of contemporary and timeless design is expressed through the Åhus XL. As a successor of the compact Åhus easy chair, Blå Station released a new version of the Åhus chair in the new form of a three-seater sofa. Still sticking to the studio’s belief in the beauty of simplicity and no lavish excess, the delicate composition of the sturdy seats and sleek frame creates a unique character for this piece. With the integration of functional side tables,  Åhus presents an asymmetrical form, which makes it adaptable to any setting. Although this new piece was originally released at Stockholm Furniture Fair, fans at the Rho fairgrounds got to take it in.

Simple and solidly built, Blå Station also designed six pieces that were made to challenge the boundaries with wood. Paying homage to Enzo Mari’s approach to wood, Pinzo is greatly inspired by African seating derived from sculpting timber out of tree trunks. Evolving into a contemporary piece that demonstrates long-lasting sustainability and strength, Pinzo was created with a hint of Swedish influence with its square and angular form.

The finger-jointed backrest on Pinzo is accompanied by a cleverly carved hole in the lower part of the chair to be used as a handle for the seat. Created from the local pine trees of Sweden, Pinzo features a defining character true to the Blå Station brand.

Bringing forward a fresh attitude towards shape, function and material, Blå Station’s furniture presents a new alternative to contemporary furniture and is an undeniable fan favourite at the Salone del Mobile.
